The Ones Who Made This Happen
SACHI SANGHAVI
I came up with the idea for a fashion show last year because I thought it was a fun and unique way to raise awareness for various causes. Last year, we decided to pick an organization called the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation and this year we chose the World Wildlife Fund-Australia. My goal through Fashion for Compassion is to inspire others to help others through fun and innovative ways.

AUDREY DAVISLast year, when Sachi asked me to help her organize this event, I said yes. Admittedly, I didn’t realize how much work it would take. However, when the event was over, I was proud of what we had accomplished and excited to do it again. So, here we are -- doing it again. I”m excited to see what will be different this time around in terms of how many people attend, especially since this is only our second year holding this event at AHS.

CAROLINE EGGETTI participated as a photographer last year and was so impressed by Audrey and Sachi’s initiative to organize a fashion show for such a well-deserving organization: the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation. I thought it would be awesome to help plan a similar fashion show the following year in order to help the community become connected to philanthropy with an international charity.

How did you pick World Wildlife Fund-Australia as your charity?
Driving home from Florida over winter break, Audrey was scrolling through Instagram looking at all the images and videos of the Australia bushfires. She wanted to help. After asking Sachi and Caroline if they wanted to raise money for a charity dealing with the bushfires, they all agreed to start researching various organizations. They wanted to help restore the forests and to help bring injured and endangered animals back to health. That’s when they found WWF-Australia and knew. That was the charity.

More than 10 million hectares of Australian land has been burned. At least 26 people have died and more than 2,000 homes have been lost.
It has been estimated that around 1.25 billion animals have been killed across Australia from these fires. This includes koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, kookaburras, cockatoos and honeyeaters burnt alive by the fire. |

How can you help Australia? "Just 5% of our koalas remain. Can you help protect and restore koalas homes before it’s too late?" |
